Investing in Art Seminar
6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Panelists:
Alexandra Wang, Assistant Vice President, Specialist, Chinese Contemporary Art Dept., Sotheby’s
Robert Young, Managing Director, Strategic Equity Capital
Catherine Lee , Director, Crossing Art
Art investment for most of people is a mystery. We see auction prices for Asian Art rising into the million dollar range; prices for Chinese art, in particular, have established historic sales records. In these turbulent financial times, prices for equities and real estate are extremely volatile and decline daily. Art is a more stable investment that holds its value amid the economic crises. According to investment studies, art has held its worth and increased in price over the long term, and hence is a safe long-term investment. We would like to discuss art as an investment alternative for the collector and potential collector.
Collecting art is an artistic skill and requires good sense, investment knowledge, and also professional help. It is a good time to consider art as an alternative place for your money. Owning art is not only an asset in the material world but also can help establish balance for you in the tumultuous spiritual world. It is an investment that can be passed from one generation to the next. This seminar will indicate a path through the current world economic situation, address the operations and role of auction houses and gallery exhibition, and highlight tendencies and trends in the contemporary art world today.
The panel will also discuss art appreciation, and art consultants will be on hand to answer your questions and provide guidance. This is a unique opportunity.
