Biography>>

Sorytelling and dislocation are the main components of my work. I gather bits and pieces of stories and memories using playful, everyday objects. I focus on the struggle to contain the intangible - the elusive nature of memories. In my most recent narrative series, thousands of stickers attached to reflective mylar are used to create a whimsical world of unadulterated joy and wonder. The moment someone holds a sticker in his hand, he smiles. Even if he concludes the sticker is worthless and throws it out the very next moment, he still smiles.

I wanted to share that moment of childish innocence and joy through colorful narratives. As the silly, mundane objects are re-contextualized into fanciful stories and exuberant patterns, the silver mylar reflects and captures the surroundings. Thus the viewer inside the work experiences a dense duality of reality and illusion – a reality that partakes in fantasy and a fantasy that can never escape from reality.
