Zhu Wei 朱偉
Zhu Wei was born in Beijing. Inspiration for his works are drawn from episodes in China’s modern history and his own personal experiences. Principally a painter and well-versed in traditional Chinese ink-on-paper, Zhu Wei has also become known for his print-making and figurative sculpture.
His works often carry an air of politicism and comment on the effects of a rapidly changing China on society. His China China sculptures series, which began in 2000, has garnered great acclaim.
